Position Overview: This role is customer-facing, and requires retail experience (liquor retail experience a huge plus!). You will be assisting customers throughout the time they spend at Leary's, whether that is helping select the perfect wine, or assisting them bring their purchase to their car.

Job Requirements:

  • Previous retail experience.

  • Exceptional customer service and communication skills, both in person and over the phone.

  • Proficiency in handling money.

  • Must be at least 18 years old, as required by the State of Connecticut.

  • Ability to work long hours on your feet.

  • Capability to consistently lift up to 50 pounds.

Availability: Applicants must be available to work on the days leading up to major holidays and, in some cases, on the holidays themselves. These include, but are not limited to, Thanksgiving Eve, Christmas Eve, and New Year’s Eve.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Process payments, including cash, credit/debit cards, and gift cards.

  • Perform light maintenance tasks such as cleaning, dusting, vacuuming, and garbage removal.

  • Issue receipts, refunds, credits, and change to customers.

  • Count money in cash drawers at the beginning of shifts to ensure accuracy and adequate change.

  • Greet customers as they enter the establishment.

  • Maintain clean and orderly checkout areas.

  • Establish or identify prices of goods/services.

  • Resolve customer complaints.

  • Answer customer questions and provide information on procedures or policies.

  • Provide knowledgeable recommendations on wine and liquor selections.

  • Assist customers with pairing wine and liquor with food.

  • Stay informed about new wine and liquor products and trends.

  • Ensure proper handling and storage of wine and liquor products.

  • Conduct inventory checks and restock wine and liquor shelves as needed.
